Customs Duties & Import Taxes
The products will be shipped from Japan. Recipients will be indicated as importers and the country in which the products are shipped to may impose customs duties, import taxes and other fees.
Recipients must also pay for any additional fees that are incurred so as to facilitate customs clearance.
JP Stationery Store is unable to forecast or display these costs related to importation in advance.
Since different countries implement different customs requirements, please contact your local customs authorities should you require more detailed information.
Customs Duties for Shipments to the United States
Effective August 29, 2025, the U.S. de minimis rule will be suspended.
Previously, purchases under USD 800 were generally exempt from customs duties. However, once the suspension takes effect, duties will apply regardless of the purchase amount.
The applicable duty rate depends on the product category. Since the reciprocal tariff rate imposed by the U.S. on imports from Japan is 15%, a minimum duty of 15% will be charged.
In addition to customs duties, customs clearance fees may also be charged.
Furthermore, when using postal services, duties may not be calculated based on product-specific rates, but instead as a flat fee of USD 80 per item. However, since the U.S. government has not yet provided detailed guidance, it remains unclear whether duties will be applied based on tariff rates or as a flat amount. We will update this information as soon as further details are available.
JP Stationery Store is currently considering measures such as collecting customs duties in advance for shipments to the U.S. However, at this stage, duties must be paid by the customer either at the time of delivery or after receiving the goods.
Please note that U.S. import regulations may continue to change frequently, which could result in confusion or delivery delays related to customs duty collection.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation when placing orders.
